Damn you Play-Doh!

The end of Aaron’s winter break is drawing to a close and today was the girls first day back at daycare.  He goes back tomorrow, but I figured he could use a day off without the kids (since I am the boss and run this show), especially seeing as he kept them every day for the past week and half while I pretty much worked every day except for Sundays and yesterday (see not only am I the boss, but I am “The Sugga Momma” as well–some one has to be).  I must say he makes a pretty ok househusband, but his cleaning skills could use a lot bunch tremendous amount of drastic little improvement.  I think that they had a good time staying home with him (and why not–not like he makes them pick up after themselves–hell, I would just take him picking after himself!) as this morning Bella told me she wanted to stay home with Daddy instead of going to Wendy’s house.

Norah with Sweetener

We entertained on New Year’s Eve this year.  The Snyders came over and we had the appetizers and drinks covered.  Aaron and Wes had pre-ordered dinner from a BBQ place and it was very good.  The kids exchanged presents and then we let them have full range of the girls’ bedroom and the guest room upstairs.  Cole was playing Xbox and the girls were playing with the kitchen set and assorted toys in their room with Ellie.

However, Norah did not like Cole playing Xbox and on more than one occasion expressed her discontent by turning the game off and telling Cole to come play kitchen with them.  It turns out that Cole will make a pretty good househusband some day–far better than Aaron!  The kids were up quite a bit later than I expected them to be and finally around 10 pm we decided to put the girls to bed and settle down Cole and Ellie in the guest room with a movie.  Surprisingly, Norah was ok with the idea while Bella was adamant that she did not want to go to bed.  “WAAAAAAAAH!!!!   Mommy!  Daddy!  WAAAAAAAH!”  We had to hear her crying and arguing for some time afterwards.

Bella's Accomplishment

The adults managed to stay up just a tinsy-witsy bit later–okay–a lot later!  Unfortunately baby Kyla had other plans and I was awaked by crying due to a diaper that reached max absorbency and then some .  Thankfully when it is not your child you can hand her off to her parents and go back to sleep :)  I made a big breakfast the next morning and enjoyed the day off with Aaron and the girls.

The cookie I stole from Bella

Yesterday we dismantled the Christmas tree and decorations and put away it all…and yes, I did it with the girls awake.  They really did a good job as they helped take some of the ornaments down and pointed out ones I had missed, but when I told them not to touch they actually listened (MARK–ONE TIME THE GIRLS LISTENED).  We even got some of the stuff in the guest bedroom closet sorted through while some has already been pitched, with other stuff laid out for Aaron the househusband to sort through (yes–it is still sitting there waiting to sort through).

Add this to the de-cluttering Aaron did in the kitchen/pantry (alright he did do at least one thing while on break) and we are doing our spring cleaning in January.  Plus we found a coloring toy from last Christmas that the girls had received from their Aunt Jane that had gotten lost (or is it found?) in there.  Let me tell you, that the girls have been having a blast using that! They hadn’t seen it in so long that it is a brand new toy to them again.  Now, I will have to wait and see if anything else turns up after Aaron finishes going through his stuff (so maybe toward the end of the month).

Friends 4 Life

Another first for the girls is that they both ask to take showers now.  Norah has always liked taking showers and if Aaron would ask her if she wanted to take one with him she was always willing.  Bella on the other had would tell me she didn’t like showers and ask to be bathed.  However, I got Bella to take a shower with me the other week and she was willing to take one with Aaron the other night.  Last night they were asking to take one with me instead of taking a bath.  I had gone to Zumba earlier, so I needed to take one anyway and they both were willing and happy to take on with me.  Bella doesn’t like the water in her face, so I usually hold her and let her tip back into the water.  Norah doesn’t mind the water, but I just went ahead and washed her the same as Bella.

So that was the past week in a nutshell with the highlights.  As always you can view all the pictures that Aaron takes (over 8,000 since birth) on Flickr.  It is easy to get to–all you have to do is click here.  Picture of the Week is brand new.  You can view it by clicking here.  Don’t forget we love to hear comments from the peanut gallery and that is simple to do as well.  You can even login with your Facebook account and drop a line.
