These past few weeks have been so very busy. We took the girls for their 18 month well baby visit a couple weeks ago, but I am just now getting around to posting about it. They each got their DTP shot. Bellla was 33.5 inches tall and she weighed 22.1 lbs. Norah was 33 inches tall and she weighed 21.4 lbs. They were in the 85th and 90th percentiles for height, but were both under the 20th percentile for weight. They shouldn’t need any shots at the next visit, so that is a good thing.

We went to St. Louis after their pediatrician appointment and some of that was posted on the last snow post. We all had a good time, but both girls had runny noses and their cousin, Lindsay had a cough and a runny nose. Lindsay and Bella got into paci wars because Lindsay would run up to Bella and pull her pacifier out of her mouth. Bella is crazy overprotective of her paci, so she would go nuts! It was a constant battle. Then Addisyn decided to take toys from Bella and she freaked out about that too. Poor Bella just couldn’t catch a break. Norah was happy the entire time and she didn’t have any problems. Bella never sleeps well when we are away from home. She didn’t nap well at all on Saturday. We ended up deciding to bathe the girls and drive back home that night so the girls could sleep on our way. It really made for an easier trip.
Kurt, Natalee, Hope and Trey showed up on Saturday afternoon. We ate dinner and then we opened presents. It was crazy because the little ones were interested in tearing at the wrapping paper and trying to run off with whichever toys they found laying around. We got a sneak peak of what Christmas morning will be like for the girls!

When we got up that next morning we got the girls dressed and ready to go out in the snow as you may have seen on Aaron’s last post. We got more snow this past weekend, but there was no going out this time. Both girls have been sick, especially Bella. She was sounding so rough on the following Wednesday that I took her to the pediatrician on Thursday to have her checked out. The last time she sounded that bad she had bronchitis. Luckily every thing looked good this time, she just had a really bad cold. Dr. Butler gave us some samples of Dimetapp and told me the correct dosage that I could give the girls to help them feel a little better.

Norah is doing much better now, but she still gets a little congested in the morning. She has become a champion nose-blower though. You can either hand her a tissue or hold it for her and tell her to “blow her nose” and she actually does it…it is pretty cute. Bella still has the runny nose and a bit of a cough, but I think she is finally on the upswing. Bella is not a pleasant baby to be around when she does not feel good. She refuses to give up her pacifier when asked and she wants to carry her bunny around with her everywhere. I think the hardest part about Bella when she is sick is that she has a bad tendency to cough up mucus and then it gags her and she throws up! It has happened when she was a little baby and I had hoped she would have outgrown that, but no it has happened a handful of times in the past week.
On Friday our friends, Wes and Stacey, had their third child. She is a sweet little girl and they named her Kyla Grace. Aaron and I went up to visit them in the hospital while the girls were at daycare and then we ran by Toys R Us to pick up a couple of other things for the girls’ Christmas.

Bella had been getting better until this past weekend. She was acting a little sluggish on Saturday and didn’t have much of an appetite. We went down to the Louisville area to have Christmas at Aaron’s aunt Jane’s house. Both girls seemed to enjoy opening presents, but Norah (maybe because she feels better) seemed to enjoy it way more. They got some really nice presents and have been playing with them all week. But by that afternoon Bella spiked a fever and she was shivering and crying. We took her home and she has been feeling very poorly and not sleeping well since. Norah seems to be doing fine so far and I am hoping that she doesn’t get sick. I will just keep my fingers crossed for now. Bella has not been herself. She wants to be held the entire time and shows little interest in playing. Hopefully this will go away soon as we prepare to make our way to Southern Indiana to Mimi and Granddaddy’s house for Xmas.
Also, as you may remember from last year, Aaron’s cousin Madison made an attempt to change Bella’s diaper. It was very humorous (well to maybe everyone except Madison) and this year she braved yet another attempt. Below is the video of the second attempt. Are you looking at me?
This past week we took the girls for their 15 month check up with the pediatrician (Dr. Butler). Both girls did quite well at the visit. They each got the MMR and the Varicella (chicken pox) shot and had a finger prick to check for anemia. Of course there was some crying from the shots, but I think they were more upset by the band aid the nurse put on after the finger prick! Bella was especially mad about hers and kept shaking her hand, fussing and pouting about it (it was only cute like the first 2 minutes). Both girls were 30 3/4 inches tall. Bella weighed 20.5 lbs and Norah was 20 lbs even, so that puts them in the 15th and 10th percentiles. I think Bella still looks and feels like she weighs so much more than Norah, but I guess the difference is now down to a half pound.

We were lucky that there weren’t any real side effects from the shots this time. In the past Bella has had some rough weeks following shots, but I think she has still been too uncomfortable from cutting the lower molars to really care. Norah’s molars are all in, but Bella’s lower ones are taking their sweet time…they have popped through, but are slowly coming up through the gums. And of course, Bella lets us know each and every day that “yes” they still hurt and bother her.

The other day I bought a baby doll for the girls. I am going to say that I actually bought it for Bella because she is the only one I have seen carrying dolls around at day care. Norah usually has cars or blocks. True enough, I didn’t show them the doll when I brought them in, but Bella found it and carried it around. She also said “baby” when Aaron asked her to bring the baby to him. Don’t feel bad for Norah though because I bought a big bag of Megablocks last week that she and Bella both have been playing with…Norah likes for someone to hold the blocks as she stacks them up until they are as tall as her!

I have probably mentioned that Norah has been giving kisses before, but she is getting really good at giving them (and I am happy to announce that she does not give open mouthed kisses that are the typical first kisses). Bella is still a hugger and usually turns her head when you go to give her a kiss, but you can occasionally get the slobbery open mouth kisses from Bella.

All-in-all the girls had a pretty good week and they are anxiously awaiting their second Dale Fall Fest weekend. I know that we have LOTS of family eagerly awaiting the arrival of the girls. Living 3 hours away (well 3 if you drive like anyone except Aaron), makes it hard to everyone to see the girls as much as they would like. Hopefully this year they will enjoy it a little more. Only a couple more years and they will be able to ride the kiddie rides.

What do you mean there is no more milk?!?
First of all, sorry about the tardiness of this post. Stacy finished writing it earlier this week and it took me a while to get the video (yes a video!) done and the pictures ready–my bad.
Earlier last week we took the girls to see Dr. Butler for their one year well baby visit. They did a great job, but Norah cried a little when Dr. Butler first came into the room (and he isn’t even the one who gives the shots). Bella weighed in at 19 lb 2 oz (20th percentile) and was 30 inches (~75th percentile) long. Norah weighed in at 18 lb even (10th percentile) and was 29 inches long (50th percentile). They each got a shot in each leg. Pneumococcal and Hib were the two they got today. We go back at 15 months and I figure that is when we start MMR, but we will see. Norah also cut her 7th tooth this past week and Bella is drooling like crazy, so it looks like she may cut some molars soon! Aaron tried to feel the back of her gums, but she started trying to bite, so we could be wrong about those being next.

This past week was the girls second Memorial Day and this time around they were so much fun! We went to Shawn and Charon’s party on Saturday evening. We have gone every year to this party with the exception of last year. It is a tradition and the ribs are so fantastic. Another great thing about going over there this year is that their oldest daughter, Aleseya, just finished her babysitting course and it now a certified babysitter. So, she was excited to watch the girls during the duration of the party. Aaron and I had a lot of fun and I think the girls did too because they stayed up until 10:00pm that evening. There were tons of other kids there and one time I went upstairs to check on them and some of the older girls were holding our girls and dancing with them. Both my girls had the biggest smiles on their faces and seemed to be having a ball! In fact, we have turned the radio almost every night since because….well….they like to dance.

Another first was that the girls got to go to their first pool party. We got to put their poolfloaties that my mom got them to good use. Both of them really enjoyed the water. I thought Norah would be afraid, but she turned out to like it even more than Bella and she was putting her face in the water (I think she was trying to drink it) and kicking her legs. Being in the pool must have worn them out because they took a great afternoon nap and then they slept really well that night. They slept in on Monday and then we took a family grocery trip to Target. They were so good while we were there.
The girls were the only ones at daycare on Tuesday because there was a stomach bug going around. Fingers crossed that the girls dodge that bullet because I can’t imagine having to deal with two vomiting babies at the same time! (again, due to the tardiness, glad to report no sick babies through Friday!)

This past week went slowly. I was not feeling well most of the week, missed half a day to go to the doctor and then ended up not going to work on Thursday. At least I am feeling better, but now Aaron seems to be getting it.
On Friday we took the girls to the pediatrician for their shots. Technically, it was supposed to be their six month visit,

but they have been behind since we had to reschedule the four month visit back in October. The girls did great with their shots this time and so far we have not had fussiness issues like last time. That is part of the reason we asked Grandma to come up this weekend because Aaron almost went nuts trying to deal with two fussy babies after shots last time.
I know everyone wants to know how big the girls are getting and we never know except for right after doctor visits. Bella was 27 1/2 inches long and she weighed 16 lb 5 oz. Norah was 27 inches long and she weighed a whopping 15 lbs even. Bella is still hanging around the 25th percentile and Norah is in about the 15 th percentile. Norah was all about grabbing onto the paper that rolls out over the bed and she just destroyed it. She also kept trying to eat it and would

make a face because she didn’t like the taste…then she would repeat the whole process! Bella just sat there and took it all in. Dr. Butler gave them tongue depressors to play with while he was examining them and Bella threw a fit when she dropped hers. Usually babies have a nine month visit, but there aren’t any shots at that appointment, so we are not scheduled to bring the girls back in until they are a year old.
I think Grandma had a good visit with the girls. She scared Bella when she first showed up. The girls had been napping and she went in their room right after they woke up. She crouched down to talk to them and Bella was not happy because she was expecting her mommy. Norah was cool with it and all smiles for Grandma, but Bella had to be handed to me before she would calm

down. Once she calmed down she was completely fine. I don’t know if it was a little bit of “stranger anxiety” starting (even though Bella knows my mom and saw her a few weeks ago) or if it was just that Bella can be a little cranky when she first wakes up and was expecting to see me anyway…I don’t know.
We went to Ellie’s birthday party on Saturday night and there were quite a few people there and almost all of them have 2 or 3 kids, so it was crazy. The girls got lots of attention, but I had to take Grandma and the girls home around 8:30 because they were getting tired and cranky. There was no way they would have been able to fall asleep with all the commotion. They were so tired that they fell asleep in the car before we even got out of the neighborhood! They were a little thrown off from it because they ate at 12:30 am and then again around 5:00 am. Grandma took the monitor for the past two nights and I will say that Aaron and I haven’t slept that well in quite a while! Thanks Grandma!
