Our sick Christmas baby with Daddy
Hopefully everyone had a great Christmas. I know that we as a family enjoyed it very much. We were worried that we wouldn’t make it down to southern Indiana on Christmas Eve because the afternoon of the 23rd Aaron called me to tell me that Norah was running a temperature of 101.5. Bella had been sick and had pink eye just a few days prior, so we were thinking, “Here we go again.” Santa came a day early to our house and Bella enjoyed opening her presents. Norah was still not feeling well, so she sat in Aaron’s lap and then they took a nap on the couch while I made breakfast. We did save a couple of presents for Norah to open and she did so a couple hours later after the Tylenol brought her temperature down.

So many toys

Christmas Chaos
The girls got lots of new toys from Santa this year. They got a new ride on toy, a singing rocking horse, some puzzles, books, a Sit and Spin that they currently use as a stool, a shopping cart, some new dolls, and that is just a few of the things. Their favorite toys were their Zhu-zhu pets that they were terrified of at first, but eventually loved so much that one of them no longer rolls and they still enjoy playing with it. We lost another while we were down at Mimi and Granddaddy’s house.

Mimi, Grandaddy and Norah
We arrived in Dale on the afternoon of Christmas Eve. That evening we opened presents as we usually do. The girls got some bears and a bunny from Build a Bear with Christmas outfits. They each got a pair of pink cowgirl boots and a pair of ruby red slippers. Bella loves the ruby slippers and Norah loves the boots. Aaron has actually gotten them dressed on a couple of occasions this week just because the girls wanted to wear their new shoes. They also got some more puzzles, some big girl panties, some candies and some bonds. They were so tired that evening because they didn’t get to bed until a couple hours after their normal bedtime, but they both slept well and for the entire night.
By Christmas Day Norah was starting to feel better. She had a very slight temperature, but she was starting to smile and laugh and she began acting like our little Norah. They opened their stockings and enjoyed a breakfast of Mimi’s famous french toast. It snowed Christmas Eve night so Grandaddy was able to take them out to play in the snow.
They later took some good naps before we headed off to visit Grandma Duncan where they got to spend some time playing with all the neat toys in her play room. Kurt, Natalee, Hope and Trey showed up not long after we got there. We had opened presents a few weeks prior when we did the Willard family Christmas at Meredith’s house. They all had a couple of presents that came from Papa and Nana Higginbotham back in West Virginia. The girls got a dress and a doll each from them. Later that evening we headed back to Dale where we enjoyed a nice pot roast and some time relaxing from all the excitement. The next morning we ate breakfast and headed back home to Greenwood.

This is Aaron’s last few days home with the girls before he has to return to work. He has really enjoyed his time with his girls over the course of the last two weeks. The girls have played with Daddy and enjoyed being able to be at home. It is one of the great parts about being an educator and having the time to spend with your babies. On one of the nights, Aaron made tacos for dinner. Now usually we can make tacos using 1 lb. of ground beef and have enough for all of us. When I called Aaron on the way home from work, he said that he didn’t think we had enough left for both of us to still eat. The girls really loved their tacos and sure enough, there was not quite enough for both of us so Aaron and I ate something else saving the left overs for the girls for the next day. Mimi even was able to “Skype” with the girls and Aaron while the girls were eating and enjoying their tacos. They also really like stroganoff which is another dinner that we will have to increase the amount that we make.
For our New Year celebration we went over to Wes and Stacey’s house. As we have done in the past, we exchanged gifts. The girls got to open more presents and stay up really late (well for them late). We put them down around 10 or so which is about 2 hours past their normal bedtime. The girls were able to see “baby” Kyla who is just a few weeks old. Norah was really interested in her, but Bella was not as much. Norah wanted to touch her and offer her a paci and even share toys with her! It was really cute. I will say that I was surprised that neither Bella or Norah were jealous when Aaron or I were holding her. It was a good night with good friends.
So there you are. All caught up. Below are lots of pictures but a sample really to what we have on Flickr. Enjoy!
